Focusing on the Japanese metropolis during the night, Wakui brings out its mesmerizing vibrant colors. He perfectly captures the poetry of Tokyo’s lively narrow streets, filled with buzzing neon signs and mysterious figures.

Using high-performance compact cameras, Wakui usually explores the backstreets and alleyways of Shibuya and Shinjyuku, but visits other districts as well. His aesthetic images might look like images from the set of Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, but the subject in the images aren’t actors or models – they’re just ordinary citizens who happened to cross the path of Wakui’s lens.
